Moving On

Finally, the time has come to move on. I remember the day when I first stepped in here, I heard God's voice that it would be one year. Without realising, time flies. Without consciously seeking, opportunities knocked at my door. With lots of analysing and analysing, finally, I took up the step of faith...stepping out. Mixed feelings? Definitely. Well, it's always difficult to step out of comfort zone. But it will be again a bigger pants to wear. A free zone in between that I can perform and enjoy.

Incidentally, it's a season that I am stepping out of comfort zone. Nervous, yes. Performance orientated spirit..not so heavy now. I think so long I know I have given my best, that's the most important. Can't fulfil expectation of other people.

Unexpected conversation & outcome

An unexpected conversation over a cup of coffee this week. A real challenge to stay impartial and yet tactful. A real call for instant wisdom and boldness. But, praise God for the wisdom. And praise God for the outcome. Praise Him for the reliefs and joy of the outcome. It's good to know that you have helped someone because of what you said which carried weights. Not sure if you have experienced helping someone discretely, and seeing the person overjoy with the discrete help. The sense of joy and fulfilment are beyond description. It makes me smile and feel good.

Let Go

Before I went to Indonesia last week, I did web check-in and guess what, my printer was out of ink and it was 10.15pm. I got to wake up at 5.30pm to catch a bus to LCCT. So, quickly I called a friend and headed off to her house to print. Her printer, which was working perfectly well the night before, was jammed up and not working. After trying for half an hour, I called another friend nearby and headed off to her house, only found out I could't reprint my boarding pass (despite clicking the reprint button few times). Panic striked. But nothing could be done. So I headed home. Before I slept, I prayed and peace came. The song "How Great is Our God" kept lingering all through the night, even in the morning when I woke up. I knew God is in control, despite all these unexpected things. I arrived at airport on time, the queue was short and I managed to get my boarding pass reprinted over the counter. Had I not let go the night before, and choose to worry, I wouldn't have a good nite sleep.

In life, we can look after certain ppl in our lives. It comes to a point of time where you know it's time to let go of them and let them grow. It's not that you abandon them, but you know that their wings hv grown bigger, stronger and it's time for them to spread their wings else where, b'coz the nest is just too small for them..to ruffle. Can't deny the nest is comfortable and warm, just that they may feel out of place. Yeah, letting go maybe painful for some of us, but if it's for the better of the person, it's good to be so. Won't you agree?

Reunion Across the Sea

Had a pre-Christmas holiday last weekend across the sea. It was short but memorable and there were lots of things shared in the span of 3 days, to catch up on each other life stories of the past 5 years.

What touched me most are her stories, of her sister and hubby's salvation, her willingness to do things that are out of her comfort zone and very un-her. The unexpected yet impactful things happened to others because of her willingness and obedience. The joy and the comfort that she brought to others..beyond description. Her perseverance in praying for others and for situations that were frustrating and yet beyond controls. The way God answered her prayer encouraged my heart very much, of His grace and His love.

Above all, I miss the little girl, who remembered me as Aunty "Mui Moon". My colourful lopipop bribed my "right" to enter her room. Miss her round bright eyes and her constant crashing in to my room to flash herself after shower tickled me..Amazing level of energy.:)

Amazed

I'm amazed by how God works..esp for these two weeks. Someone was awaken at the very hour which I woke up, and interceded for me. Attended a seminar, and an illustration was used which reminded me of the same illustration given to me 11 years back in Australia. A long awaited report turned out good as well. The song "Lord I am amazed by You, Lord I am amazed by You, how You love me" kept lingering in my mind for the past few days.

Another level of faith. Another deeper level of trust and believe. I am His work in progress. To be modified and refined, for His glory.

Giants along the ways. Quote Max Lucado, "Focus on Giants, you stumble. Focus on God, your giants tumble".

Prayer Walk

It's been a while, I have not blogged. Busy with work, busy attending back-to-back weddings, etc.

Last saturday, woke up at 4.30am, the song, "we walk the land, with hearts of fire, and every steps, will be a prayer,.." Yeah, it was the morning to meet at 6am to run for the nation. The prayer walk in Cheras. Our group covered Cuepacs area, an area full of nice houses and few schools. Despite the lots of car and steep uphill to our final point, the walk was really meaningful. It's not an ordinary walk. It's a walk to pray for Cheras community. Felt good and felt being energised, despite only had less than 5 hour sleep, and a late OT the night before. Being able to set a side time for things other than self-focus and work-focus..it's something energising and something that I don't normally do previously.

Season of change..for a better...a year of God's possibilities.

A Crazy Week

Crazy deadlines, too much on the plate, endless phone calls to seek help, endless system problems, endless queries, working round the clock to meet the midnight deadline....It's been a crazy week. I ran like a mad woman. Never in my life felt so so stretched before. Never in my life felt such a burning anger...it's a struggle..between what i believe and the realty.

Lord, is this really what He has installed for me? God, where is You sceptor of favour? Where is the breakthrough that I have been waiting? How long shall I wait? I felt like standing on a sinking sand...grapping hold of anything that comes along the way.

It's so easy to give up. It's never easy to stay afloat and hang in there. Peace and strength are what I desire most. And there's only one place I can draw from. The ONLY place.

Favour

I was in Beijing last whole week attending 3 days training, and then extended 3 days stay in this historical place. During the week, I met up with friends that I wanted to meet and have not met for 5 years. One of them actually made an effort to meet me despite his busy schedule (coz throughout the dinner, he kept receiving phone calls from office, and he told me he couldn't remember when was the last time he had dinner at 7pm). And the rest of the friends...it's amazing to see how their kids have grown up, and all of them are so cute!

Most of the time, I went sightseeing on my own. The audio autoguides were my good companion, giving me lots of information and narration. At Temple of Heaven, there's this Indian guy, newly graduated and staying in Shanghai for the past few mths, became my photo buddy at that place and even guided me how to walk to the nearest subway! At Summer Palace, met a couple who was looking for the same plc as I did, and they become my friends, offer to take photos for me and walked with me. The day before I left, I joined a local tour to the Great Wall, Mutianyu, and I met 2 couples from USA. Nice people. Won't hesitate to offer to help me with taking photos. I enjoyed their company very much.

Upon return to KLIA, I realised that I was short of RM5 to buy the KLIA express, and asked the staff where was the nearest ATM machine. A gentlemen overheard, asked how much was I short of, and extended a RM5 note to me. What a great help, coz it was the last train and would be arriving in 10 minutes.

All in all, favour of God all through the journey.

Stepping Out

This week is a long weekend. But, my body alarm clock doesn't seem to be:). Woke up at 6am yesterday. Drove out from home at 8.30am..and guess what..caught in a massive jam. The police were setting up road block to check the vehicles..the prevent people from attending the demonstration.

Yesterday was a whole new discovery and experience for me. Observed and understand the volunteers to teach English in a confined hall. 6 classes were held simulatenously and no particiant in between. Imagine the noice level and heat. My friend and I decided to dig our hands into one of the classes. We helped the students to focus and read. Real test of patience. But it's a whole new experience. Real application of what I have learnt in TESOL. But I quite like the experience.

A season of stepping out of comfort zone...and rise up to the opened door.

Energizer

Heart longs for peace & joy
Soul desires refreshment and strengthening
Only in You, my heart finds security
Only in You, that I put my total trust
Only You, my Shepherd that I will follow
be it in the quiet pasture, or by the gentle stream

I want to sing....

Refresh my heart Lord
Renew my love
Pour Your spirit into my soul
Refresh my heart
You set me apart Lord
To make me new
By Your spirit life me up Lord
Refresh my heart

I will worship You Lord
With all of my heart
And I will follow You Lord
Refresh my heart

These 3 Months

Time really flies. From Christmas to New Year, to Chinese New Year. Many things have happened. Swamped with busy deadlines, and now finally, the slower pace kicks in.

Fo the past 3 months.....

*Lots of dependant on God for wisdom at workplace

*See beyond the weakness of a friend, asking her for forgiveness despite my agitation over her actions during a presentation. In obedience over the prompting. Amazed by how God works when both of us asking forgiveness with each other. Restoration and peace in place. When we see beyond the weakness, and start to focus on the strengths of others, you will be amazed that it brings out the best in others. They seem to "rise up" to the expectation.

*Tremendous sense of peace despite shortage of time in preparation for my TESOL exam. Thankful for the extended help by a friend. On the day of exam, as I woke up, the song "Jesus I believe in You" came to my mind, and as I sang, I felt challenged to totally trust & believe in Him. During the exam, esp the practicum, I fumbled a bit, but overall it went well. I overcame the butterfly in the stomach.:)

Hanoi Revisit

I was in Hanoi a few days back for business trip. The trip was fruitful. Agenda and objectives were met. In addition to that, I had great time exploring more of the city together with my colleague.

English is not widely spoken in Vietnam. Some of them understand a little bit, but communicating in English was a challenge. It really tested my lingustic skill, especially when we asked the direction to a place which I googled and found out. Not too bad, I would say, as most of the time, it's sign language and gesture. We explored a food stall near the roadside, with squatting table and chairs. We tried going around the Old Quarter in trishaw for an hour, stopping by in between to check-out some stuff. We managed to buy some winter clothings for our love one, and managed to bagain for lower price for one of the items, as well as getting new stocks rather than the displayed. We went in to watch the Water Puppet show, one of the famous attractions in Hanoi, where we were surrounded by lots of European. Fantastic show...only it's a bit too long...an hour.

There is a huge demand for English in Vietnam. The last visit, I saw Petronas offered scholarship for final year university students to study English, part of their corp social responsibility program. This time, I saw Australian government advertised for English teacher to teach the Vietnamese Arm Force.

The road in Hanoi was very busy that week, as Chinese New Year is approaching. People went around to deliver gifts. Was amazed too by the long stretch of flowers and lime trees for sale along the road. Even more amazed that the Vietnamese tied huge pots of flowers and trees at the back of their motorcycle, and still able to weez thru the road swiftly.

Weather at this time was cooling and at night a little bit chilly.

Giving Thanks

Today is new year eve. While most people go out for countdown and partying, I decided to stay home and rest, reflect and plan for next year.

As I take stock on the last day of the year, I can only say wow and giving thanks. I give thanks for the breakthrough in financial and health, inner healings, faith stretching experience, making new friends and deepening existing friendship. It's indeed a year of enlargement for me, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

I remember beginning of this year, as I prayed and set my new year resolutions, two verses speak to me very much:

"be joyful always, pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God." (1 Thel 5:16-18)

"lead a quiet life, mind own business and work with hand" (1 Thel 4:1)

While I have yet to set my next year new year resolution, what I desire most is to touch lives with all my endevours. From inward to outward. From within to without.

Happy New Year to all.

This Christmas

It's Christmas Eve today. It has been a busy day today, working through budgets and trying to do last minute changes. Had dinner with family, and with turkey.

This Christmas sees

the passing away of a dear friend's husband;
last minute shopping and midnight gift wrapping;
my return to corporate world after 3 years;
working late on Christmas Eve while most people are on hols and knocking off early;
having no program on the Eve;
appreciating little2 gifts and lunches;
celebrating good health

Christmas isn't Christmas till it happens in our heart, ie inviting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, experiencing His matchless love, and be assured that we are secured in Him despite the financial storm.

I enjoy the quietness and self-reflection, giving thanks and counting my blessings.

Desert Song

For those of us who feel dry and low...desert season can be lonely and painful, but take heart, God still loves you. Song of encouragement for you..

From Desert Song (c) 2008 Brooke Fraser/Hillsong

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

This is my prayer in the fire
in weakness or trial or pain
There's a faith proved of more worth than gold
so refine me Lord through the flame

This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

I will bring praise (x2)
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is My Victory and He is here

The Week

A week that I rely on God like never before, but this time, with great expectancy that He is on my side, and He has an upper hand over all things.

A week of heartthrob and panicking, yet no paralysis.

A week that I overcome my feelings by overcoming my thoughts with word of God.

A week that I told God what my expectancy of an outcome, and it turns up as it is.

A week that I thought I don't deserve something, but God says by His grace it shall be given.

A week that I pray, and felt total release and peace

A week that I face challenges by looking into the mirror and ask my spirit to arise.

A week that I overcome setback with God's timely wisdom.

A week that I feel like I have walked out from the valley heading mountain top.

A week of rejoices and praises despite my panda eyes.:)

A week that I truly experience God's realness

A week of double leap of faith

Our Worth

There are times where we think we deserve somethings. There are times where we think we don't deserve somethings, and we don't know how to appreciate the good things that come into our lives. We let them pass by.

Jesus died for us on the cross, irregardless what we think, what we do or what we say. David, a young sheperd boy whom nobody ever thought he would be a king; Joseph, the dreamer, who went through hardship, rose to high position; Gideon, a fearful person, who kept asking God for signs for confimation, yet God used him mightily.

While many anchor their identities on acheivements, social status, money value, etc, God wants us to anchor ourselves in Him, to know who we are in Him. No matter what we have gone through, He finds it is totally worthwhile to wait for us, to bless us, to forgive us and embrace us. Once we know our identities in Him, and our focus on Him, other things will diminish and things will fall into places.

New Chapter

Yeah, started a new chapter of my life. What an adjustment! From a structured environment, to a non-structured, and now back to structured. From small chat to technical chat, procedure chat...

Gosh, the amount of passwords that I have to remember and be creative in password setting. Yup, first day oredi forgot my password after the change. After 3 attempts, I was locked.

Despite that, I have pretty happy and excited. Yes, adjustment is definite, but I know the One behind all these: His grace, love and sceptor of favour. Strive to live for the Audience of One, our Lord Jesus Christ

Hanoi & Halong Bay 4D3N

Finally. The long waited trip to Vietnam come to fulfillment. My trip, together with my parents, had many first times: 1st time on Air Asia, 1st time visit to SEA other than Spore, 1st time overnight on boat/ship, and 1st time waking up before dawn to catch a flight.

Day1: Woke up at 2am. Getting ready. Left the house at 3am. Arrived LCCT at 4.30am. Checked in. Flight scheduled at 6:20am, was delayed 40 minutes due to no show of checked-in passengers. The flight was full, more than half were Vietnamese, whom, I think, first time taking a flight, perhaps out of their country. They clapped their hands when the flight took off and landed, and kept using their handphones throughout despite the warning from air stewardess. Narrow leg room and stiff chair back. Gosh, one nasi lemak costs RM8, and teh tarik RM4. While filling up the immigration form, I noticed that Vietnamese has a lot of similarity with Chinese. It sounds like a mixture of Quang Xi, Teo Chew, Mandarin and Hakka. Immigration=Hai Quan. Thank you=Xim Gan Ern. At the arrival hall, lots of ppl, holding bouquet of flowers to welcome back their relatives and friends. Apparent it is command over there. Tour guide picked us up at airport. We boarded the 8 seater MPV, with the tour guide and driver. Very personal. Went for a short city tour, had a chinese lunch, and ended the day with a short city tour. At night, we went out scouting for food on our own. But realised that English is not very widely used in there. We ended up eating at a seafood restaurant. Making order, we had to wait for a waitress who could speak English. A plate of seafood fried noodle costed RM8. Not cheap at all. Inflation indeed at Vietnam. Currency conversion is about RM1=VDN 5000. The notes had some many zeros at the back. Really had to be careful. We stayed in Hoa Binh Hotel, an old colonel 3 star hotel. Clean, well maintained and good service. Like the touch of classic. Motorbikers are terrible in Hanoi. 3 million bikers. Many who don't stop at traffic lights and dashed across despite the change of lights.

Day2: Had breakfast. Pick up arrived at 8am to go to Halong Bay. We joined some other tourists as well, and we were the only Asian! 3.5 hours drive from Hanoi. We boarded the dragon junk, checked in our luggage to the cabins on board of dragon junk and cruised Halong Bay. Spectacular scenery. Visited one of the largest caves. Flooded by mostly european tourists. Short visit to a fishing village and then went back to the cabin for shower, while the rest of the tour members went for a swim round the junk and kayaking. My tour members are from UK, Australia, Holand and Poland. Has dinner on board. Nice sun set. At the night, our junk were surrounded by other junks as well. The night were lighted by lights shined out from the junks, while the stars twinkled above.

Day3: Had lunch on board. Headed back to Hanoi. Reach Hanoi around 4pm. After checking into hotel, we went out to scout for dinner. Took a taxi to a foodcourt where lots of tourists and locals visited. Food was moderate but price was not that cheap. After that, we went for a walk at Hang Gai Pho. Bought moon cake and chinese tea pot. Then, we took a cab back to hotel. The cab meter jumped very fast. By the time we reached the hotel, the charges doubled what we paid earlier on. We complained, but the driver didn't seem to understand. So, we had to pay. Then, we complained to our hotel. We were ripped off. Was advised we should have insisted not paying and make a complain to the hotel reception. And we should have taken down the details of the cab, which the hotel could help to file a complain. What an experience. The thought that only Malaysian taxi will do that.

Day4: Had breakfast at 6am. Pick up at 6:30am to airport.

Overall, nice scenery, especially Halong Bay. I like the Old Quarters area at Hanoi as well. City with 18 lakes and history behind. Historical buildings were rebuilt and well maintained. Applaud the efforts. Don't like the dangerous bikers. I find communication difficulties there, as English is not as widely used as Malaysia. Understand that they learn English in school, but not widely used in day-to-day life. PETRONAS had lots of investment in Vietnam, and as part of their CSR effort, since 3 years back, they offers yearly scholarship to students in their final year at university to be part of their English Training Programme to boost their employability upon graduation. Buildings and houses in Hanoi are narrow and low rised. But I like the city. Lots of green, esp the city centre and outskirt. Imagine having lakes in the city centre! If you look down from the aeroplane before landing, you will see lots of padi fields and green fields...orderly planted. A great experience for a short trip.

A Listening Ear

I am a good listener. So, many people like to talk to me, pour out to me, especially their problems. Sometimes, the problems are repetitive in patterns. As I listen, I gave my comments/ suggestion at appropriate time, but sometimes, being there to lend a listening ear is comforting and encouraging.

Not sure if you ever come across some people, where they keep repeating their same problems, or pouring out many problems that have occurred along their way. And being a good listener, you lend them a listening ear. They seek your attention. But when it is your turn to pour out your problems, they either shut off, not paying attention, can't wait to tell their our problems or tell you that they had listened to these problems many times. Can be agitating and frustrating, isn't it?

No man is self sufficient. Everyone needs someone that they can pour out to. Everyone needs help some point in their life. As we listen, whatever we can help and within our reach, please do so. Of course, we are not suppose to overburden ourselves with their problems. Neither should we take an indifference attitude "this is not my problem, it's none of my business". Apply wisdom with a balance...I think should be fine.
